Happy Labor Day! It’s hard to believe that we’ve arrived at the Labor Day weekend that serves as a bookend to summer. Here’s a recap of August’s food, views, and fun!

I started the month by enjoying some lobster rolls here in Maryland. Lobster rolls are a summer bucket list item for me every. single. summer. Am I alone?

At the beginning of August, we snuck down to Kiawah Island for a few days to celebrate some family birthdays and spend time with the fam. Kiawah Island is so gorgeous and even though there are beaches, pools, and tons of golf, there are also beautiful overlooks like this one. The natural beauty is breathtaking.

August was the month that the Bites of Bri Veggie Garden finally hit it’s stride (after all of the groundhog attacks, that is). Tomatoes galore! And Jalapenos too :)

I feel like I survived on heirloom tomato caprese all month long. <– That’s not a complaint! It was perfection.

The Farmer’s Market peppers are so gorgeous in late August. Prepare for a pepper recipe coming at you this week!

I cannot even look at these butternut squash and acorn squash. I’m in total denial about September.

Late August means it is time for the neighborhood Jamboree, which is a fun festival held by our community every summer. It has games and contests and this was it’s 70th year! How cool is that?

I love seafood! We fixed a last minute craving last weekend and made a quick trip for some crab sandwiches.

That’s it for August! It was a great month. Check back soon for some farmer’s market inspired recipes, football appetizers and finger foods, and fall recipes (if I can come to grips with it).

Thanks for stopping by!
