Starting a few weeks ago, I’d been giving some thought to what kind of patriotic recipes I’d be posting this week. When #popsicleweek popped up last week, I knew the deal was sealed. Popsicles it was!

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing {Lightened Up}

This is a fabulous, light, and easy to make homemade buttermilk ranch. Perfect for a dip, a salad dressing, or a dip for buffalo wings.

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing 3 | Bites of Bri

I don’t know any formal statistics, but I’d be willing to bet that ranch dressing consumption on the day of the Super Bowl is pretty darn high. Up there with guacamole. I heard that on Super Bowl Sunday, 8,000,000 pounds, yes pounds, of guacamole are consumed. But right up there with guacamole is buffalo wings, buffalo dips, meatballs, and other great foods that love to be dipped in ranch dressing before being inhaled.

So today, I bring you homemade buttermilk ranch dressing. I recently served this on a vegetable platter, but it would be amazing on buffalo dips, buffalo chicken nuggets, you name it. Perfect for Super Bowl Sunday.

This ranch is not your typical ranch. Instead of mayonnaise, I swapped nonfat greek yogurt and low fat sour cream and I’m telling ya, you’ll never miss the mayo. This dip is awe-some.

Vanilla Almond Protein Smoothie

A creamy, rich protein packed smoothie that will leave you feeling full for hours!

Vanilla Almond Protein Smoothie | Bites of Bri

I’ve been holding out on you guys. Only for a few weeks, but still…I’m sorry.

It all started at the beginning of January when healthy smoothies were popping up all over the blogosphere. Some looked tasty, but I quickly bypassed them because I struggle with smoothies. It’s love hate really. I love them so much. I love the flavor, the nutrients, the fruit, the ease of making them. But I also hate them. I hate them because I’m hungry soon after and well, because I have to clean the blender but mainly because I’m always hungry shortly after drinking them.

So, I bypassed all of the beautiful, creamy, delicious looking smoothies I kept seeing and incorrectly lumped them all into the same category. And, here’s the thing. I was wrong about smoothies. They aren’t all the same and they don’t all deserve the cold shoulder.

Beef and Bean Chili with Greek Yogurt Cheddar Drop Biscuits

Beef and Bean Chili with Greek Yogurt Cheddar Cheese Drop Biscuits | Bites of Bri

Are you starting to notice a Friday theme on Bites of Bri? If not, I can catch you up to speed really quick. It’s soup and it’s been every Friday in January so far. Soup, as I’ve said before, is one of my favorite healthy and easy dinners. That makes it perfect for January, when we are all trying to eat light and warm up after the polar vortex.

I’ve tried what feels like hundreds of chili recipes over the years, but I always come back to this one. My tried and true, beloved chili recipe. This one packs just enough heat and has a good mix of meat, beans, and vegetables (the perfect chili combination, if you ask me). And, unlike other recipes, the number of servings in this recipe makes it perfect for anytime. No need to wait for an army to help you eat it.
